The 21st Automechanika, which attracted over 161,000 visitors to Frankfurt from 16 to 21 September 2009, once again underscored its position as the world's leading trade fair for the sector. The anniversary event was more international than ever before and set new records with 4,471 exhibitors from 80 countries and visitors from 146 nations. The 50-percent share of the total held by international trade visitors is the result of an on-going internationalisation strategy that began in 1997 with Automechanika St. Petersburg and Automechanika Asia. Today, Messe Frankfurt holds 12 Automechanika fairs outside Germany, which are used by many companies to explore new, regional markets, to make personal contacts and to build up their own marketing networks.
